As
wise consumers we seek to purchase or
use the best products/services available.
Usually we can only know the better choices
from personal experience or word of mouth,
but occasionally we can get valuable insight
from consumer publications.
Below are ratings of health insurance
plans by consumers for every area of the
United States.

NATIONWIDE HEALTH
INSURANCE RATINGS |
The largest source for reports on the
quality of health insurance is The
National Committee for Quality Assurance
(NCQA). They are a non-profit organization
that seeks to provide information to the
public on the quality of healthcare so
that consumers can make more informed
purchasing decisions. They provide
quality results for many health insurance
plans in every state. Ratings are provided
for the following categories:
|
 |
 |
Access
and Service ...
Access to needed care & customer
service
|
 |
Qualified
Providers ....
Customer satisfaction with the
doctors
|
 |
Staying Healthy ...........
Helping maintain good health &
avoid illness
|
 |
Getting Better .............
Helping recover from illnesses
|
 |
Living
with Illness .....

Note: Only
health insurance companies that are accredited
with them will appear in their report
card which include about half of the
nation's HMO's and a few PPO's. However,
on average, companies that are not
accredited by NCQA don't perform as well
as the accredited ones anyway.

Compare Health Insurance HMOs!
A few states provide reports
about healthcare quality for
HMOs within their own states.
They are definitely helpful
if you are a resident, but
they can also be used by non-residents
as a source to compare health
insurance companies and plans.
Individual states usually
provide more detailed
quality results than the NCQA.
